Agip Gas station' Shelter

Venice, Italy

Engineering Feasability Study 1999

The idea for the new Agip shelter, at the entrance to the city of Venice, was that of a simple and harmonious design, capable of assuming the role of the ancient city door that can be seen immediately behind.
The first idea was that of a large flower, which with its petals shaded and protected the new station and its visitors, then that of the spiral, which lightened the construction, shattering what could have appeared as a single large and uniform surface, so that its verticality was accentuated and, above all, let the eye of who follow the road to reach Piazzale Roma always have a glimpse on Venice skyline.
